Historic Occoneechee Speedway
Runners, start your engines!
Bull City Running is proud to announce the 4th annual Speedway Relay!
Relay teams of two or four people will have the chance to race around the last remaining dirt track in NASCAR history! All proceeds will benefit the Classical American Homes Preservation Trust to help connect the Speedway Trail with Ayr Mount and the rest of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail.
Want to check out the competition? Use this link to see which teams are competing for the checkered flag in 2018!
The relay will consist of 20 laps (each lap is just over 1 kilometer) making the total distance roughly 13.5 miles. Just like pit row, teams will line the field as their teammates race around the track awaiting the signal to hand-off, which can happen in any order and after any given number of laps. There is no required distance for each runner, nor is there a specific order of hand-off that has to be followed. It’s quite simple: your team needs to complete a total of 20 laps to finish the relay!
Saturday 1/27: 1:00-5:00pm @ Bull City Running
Sunday 1/28: 11:45am-12:45pm @ Speedway
**The first team registrant (or team captain) will pay the total team registration fee in order to secure a spot for their 2 or 4 person team. Each teammate will then register individually to join the team and will not be charged a registration fee.
