Join us for the 12th annual Running of the Bulls 8K, Durham’s premiere community road race!

This scenic course will wind through the historic and revitalized neighborhoods of downtown Durham, American Tobacco Campus, Trinity Park and Old North Durham neighborhoods, and finish with a lap of the warning track inside the historic Old Durham Athletic Park!

Kids Fun Run
Chip timed lap around the warning track inside the Durham Athletic Park. Finishers award for all kids!
Time: 8:45AM (Kids 0-6); 8:55AM (Kids 7-12)

Cash Prizes for Top Finishers
Prize purse for Top 3 Males and Females, and Top 3 Masters Males & Females. Plus, cash awards for fastest Male & Female Bull City resident!

Cowbell Medal & Age Group Awards
Custom cowbell award for all finishers, plus age group awards!

Location:
Race Day Packet Pick-up will be at the corner of Foster St. and W. Seminary Ave. (in front of  the YMCA, next to START line). The START line is in between the Durham Farmers Market and the YMCA on Foster St. The FINISH is just around the corner at the Durham Athletic Park, located at 500 Corporation St., Durham, 27701.

Parking:
Parking is available in a variety of parking lots around the start and finish areas and on the streets throughout the downtown corridor. Please note that parking is not available at the YMCA, Durham Athletic Park OR in the Market lot off Morris St (behind the Farmers Market).

Race Day Parking available in the Durham ID Parking Deck (off Morris/Roney St., 5 min walk to the start).
First Baptist Church is also providing parking and restroom facilities for participants (7 min walk to the start).  See map above for specific parking options.

FRIDAY, MAY 29: 12:00-6:00PM at Bull City Running Co.
SATURDAY, MAY 30: 6:00-7:00AM at the START line (corner of Foster St. and W. Seminary Ave, next to YMCA)

This 8km (4.97 miles) scenic course will start near Durham’s Central Park and Farmers Market, and will wind through downtown Durham, American Tobacco Campus, Trinity Park and Old North Durham neighborhoods, and finish with a lap of the warning track in the Old Durham Athletic Park. The course is certified and sanctioned by USA Track & Field.

Jogging strollers are permitted on the course, however we ask that you be considerate of other runners and position yourself near the back of the starting area. No dogs and no headphones, please. Walkers are welcome, however city race permits only allows use of city streets until 8:30 am (1hr and 15mins), so they will only be monitored by police until then. If you anticipate taking longer than this to walk 8 km, please use the sidewalk.

Aid Stations:
There will be 2 aid stations on the course; the first is just after the 2-mile mark and the second is just before the 4-mile mark. Water and Nuun will be available at both aid stations.

Facilities:
Restrooms will be available at the start area and inside the Durham Athletic Park. Restrooms in the YMCA and Farmer’s Market are restricted. There will be no facilities on the course.


CUSTOM COWBELL FOR ALL FINISHERS!

Cash Prizes: Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 Males & Females overall and the top 3 Masters Males & Females.

Age Group Awards: Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age group. Age groups are as follows: 15 and under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, AND 65+. PLUS, $50 for fastest Male & Female Durham resident. There will not be an awards ceremony after the race. Cash awards will be mailed. Age group awards will be available for pick up at the Bull City Running Co. beginning on MSunday June 2nd.

Spectators:
Spectators are welcome at the start area, anywhere along the course, and inside the stadium at the finish. Make some noise!

Expect traffic interruptions in Downtown Durham: 7:15am to 8:15am
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience. We estimate the following roads will experience traffic delays:

Seminary Ave. and Foster St. from Morgan St. to Hunt St.: 5am to 7:15am
Main St. to Buchanan Blvd.: 7:15am to 7:35am
Buchanan Blvd. to Knox St./Watt St.: 7:20am to 7:40am
Watt St. to Trinity Ave.: 7:25am to 7:50am
Trinity Ave. to Washington St.: 7:25am to 8:00am
Washington St./Morris St. to Chapel Hill St. (downtown): 7:30am to 8:10am
