Durham Visitors Information
This 8km (4.97 miles) scenic course will start near Durham’s Central Park and Farmers Market, and will wind through downtown Durham, American Tobacco Campus, Trinity Park and Old North Durham neighborhoods, and finish with a lap of the warning track in the Old Durham Athletic Park. The course is certified and sanctioned by USA Track & Field.
Baby joggers are permitted on the course, however we ask that you be considerate of other runners and position yourself near the back of the starting area. No dogs and no headphones, please. Walkers are welcome, however our city permit only allows us the use of the streets until 8:30 am (1hr and 15mins) so they will only be monitored by police until then. If you anticipate taking longer than this to walk 8 km, please use the sidewalk.
There will be 2 aid stations on the course; the first is just after the 2-mile mark and the second is just before the 4-mile mark. Water and Gatorade will be available at both aid stations.
Restrooms will be available at the check-in area and inside the Durham Athletic Park. Restrooms in the YMCA and Farmer’s Market are restricted. There will be no facilities on the course.
Spectators are welcome at the start area, anywhere along the course, and inside the stadium at the finish. Make some noise!
